ACSI Mid-Year Planning Workshop: Strengthening Collaboration for Sustainable Community Impact

Yesterday, we successfully held the ACSI (African Coalition for Social Impact) Mid-Year Planning Workshop and Grassroots Implementation Program Updates, bringing together passionate leaders, partners, and organizations committed to creating meaningful and sustainable change within communities across Uganda.

The workshop provided an important opportunity to reflect on the progress made during the first half of the year, review ongoing grassroots interventions, share experiences from different communities, and identify practical ways of strengthening our collective impact. It was encouraging to hear the different perspectives, lessons, achievements, and challenges from organizations working directly with communities, particularly in the areas of health, education, livelihoods, social inclusion, and community empowerment.

We were honored to have strong representation from the African Community Centre for Social Sustainability (ACCESS), Nama Health Impact, Wezesha Impact, Teach For Uganda, Mukisa Foundation, and St. Francis. Each organization brought valuable experiences and insights from its work, demonstrating the power of collaboration when organizations with a shared vision come together to learn from one another and develop solutions that respond to the realities faced by communities.

Throughout the discussions, we reflected on what has worked well, the challenges encountered during implementation, and the opportunities that lie ahead. The workshop also reminded us that sustainable development cannot be achieved by one organization working alone. It requires strong partnerships, shared learning, accountability, innovation, and, most importantly, the active participation of the communities we serve.

The grassroots implementation updates were particularly inspiring because they highlighted the real impact being created at community level. Behind every program, activity, and statistic are individuals, families, young people, women, children, teachers, health workers, and community leaders whose lives and communities can be transformed when they are given the right opportunities, knowledge, resources, and support.

As we move into the second half of the year, we remain committed to strengthening collaboration, improving program implementation, learning from both our successes and challenges, and ensuring that our interventions continue to respond to the needs and aspirations of communities. Our shared goal remains clear: to contribute to healthier communities, improve access to quality education, strengthen sustainable livelihoods, and empower people to become active participants in shaping their own future.

We are grateful to every partner, organization, team member, and community representative who continues to contribute their time, knowledge, experience, and passion to this collective journey. The conversations and commitments made during this Mid-Year Planning Workshop have renewed our determination to work together, strengthen grassroots action, and build sustainable solutions that can create lasting social impact across Uganda.

Together, through partnership, shared learning, and community-driven action, we can continue building stronger, healthier, more educated, empowered, and resilient communities.
